I used to get those when I commented on Gawker, but they were usually hate comments if I posted anything to the right of Lenin.
I believe I got about 70 of those comments from a very simple, one sentence comment about how both parties were at fault for the gov-ment shutdown (no other comments regarding politics, please). I think 10 of those were death wishes.

Reasonable discussion just does not happen on Gawker. It's a "It's hard being so much smarter than everybody else" circle-jerk.

Pretty much. I try to laugh at it now, and just imagine most of the regulars there as Liberal Arts majors raging at me while sitting in front of their $2k Apple laptops at some coffee shop.
